Music - audio/archangel.mp3

FORMATION
One circle, dancers equally spaced round the circle, facing in.
The dancers are numbered clockwise around the circle. Only the odd numbered dancers move. The even numbers do not move and act as ‘gateposts’.

DANCE - WIND UP
All the odd number dance a figure of eight around the two ’posts’ on each side, starting by dancing clockwise (passing inside to begin) round the right hand ‘post’ to original place. (4 bars) Then dancing anticlockwise (passing inside to begin) round the left hand ‘post’ to original place. (4 bars) This sequence is repeated  twice (= three sequences altogether) with odd numbered dancers finishing in original place. The end ’posts’ need to hold their ribbons rigidly, and the odd numbered dancers need to be gentle with their ribbon.

DANCE - UNWIND
Odd numbered dancers reverse direction and order of dance.
Finish facing out and bow.

NOTES
If the dancers and the ‘posts’ hold their ribbons with equal tension, the effect will be more of diamonds of colours as the ‘post’ ribbons are pulled first one way and then the other by adjacent dancers.

Odds gentle, evens rigid   Odds and evens, equal tension
